Traditionally, most water storage tanks have been constructed using epoxy paint or FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic).
While water from these tanks can be used for drinking, FRP has posed numerous issues—during construction, toxic substances have caused cases of suffocation, fires, and even fatalities. Furthermore, corrosion from chlorine chemicals in tap water leads to recurring environmental problems such as worker refusal to perform repairs or demolition.
